Stress and the Brain

Our brain originally has been hard-wired to detect danger. Did you know that when an individual is under chronic stress, their brain is so engaged in producing the Neurochemicals needed to sustain the Fight of Flight response that it is unable to access the Prefrontal Cortex (the thinking part of the brain). To sustain this "Neurochemical dump" the brain generates electromagnetic surges in specific areas, therefore until this surging is decreased the Neurochemicals will continue to be produced. To address this we can use medication to pump more and different Neurochemicals into the brain OR use Neurofeedback that actually retrains the brain to reduce this electromagnietic surging so naturally the brain senses the additional Neurochemicals are not needed any longer, it will smoothen the hard-wiring...

Neuroptimal Neurofeedback, a life saver

Neurofeedback saved my life...

Over thirteen years ago, it now feels ages but, back then, it was my nightmare. After I gave birth to my third child, I was caught by sever post-partum depression. And I mean, I was really caught by it. Life didn't feel what it felt before. Everything blurred, emotions running up and down and not being able to handle life AT ALL.

Everything was messed-up inside my head...my brain was completely shut down...I got lost in the city I had been living in for 22 years....I could not have a small conversation...I felt like a living death....with a baby, a toddler and a 4 year old....

I had a nurse with me during the day and she helped me with everything, simply because I wasn't able to do anything. I could not believe this was happening to me. I mean, I am a well-educated and happy person. No reason to feel like that, and still I did. Day after day, week after week, month after month passed by. I became desperate, and so did my husband. Because I had decided not to use any medication we were constantly looking at alternatives to recover from this dreadfull family situation.

One year later, the baby-girl had grown into a wonderful one-year-old happy girl, not aware of the state her mother, I, was in. It happened one year later. One year of misery inside my brain, lost the will to live....One year later I accidentaly ran into someone who owned a NeurOptimal system (Back then it was still called NeuroCare). He offered me a session....

I do believe in miracles, because, the moment the session was over, and it was just ONE session, I could already notice the difference. A little bit of sunshine was able to get through my massive brainfog...One sunray....

It made me come back for more....I had nine sessions, and that was it: I was back in charge! And more, I decided I had to have NeurOptimal in my home, simply because I wanted to become even better, not being aware that, now, twelve years after that very difficult time, I would run a private practise offering NeurOptimal Neurofeedback as a tool for my work as a therapist. Every day I enjoy using the system, now in order to help others.

If I hadn't NeurOptimal in my life, I probably would not have wanted to live....It was a life-saver for me, and, after so many years and so many clients, it probably has saved more lives than mine alone.

Be the best you, it is time!

Neuro-Insight, NeurOptimal Neurofeedback in Europe“Yes, we see miracles all the time. Your daughter is experiencing one of them”.

Be the best you, it is time! That is NeurOptimals' slogan. Being a practitioner, offering NeurOptimal Neurofeedback to clients, to those who have decided to be the best they can be, I can tell you that the work is so extremely rewarding. Over the years, many people have found relief of symptoms due to the coaching I was able to offer. But, the relief and transformation became mile-high when I introduced NeurOptimal into my work. One of the miracles that happened recently in my work is this:The most gratifying aspect of being a neurofeedback professional is witnessing complete – almost miraculous – transformations in the lives of your clients. One such client is an eight-year-old little girl. She attends a special school for children with multiple psychological disorders and severe behavioral issues. I provide NeurOptimal neurofeedback sessions there once a week.We first met two weeks ago. Her mother explained to me that her daughter was autistic and suffered from severe failure anxiety. She typically avoided eye-contact with strangers and would not shake hands on a first meeting. Her mother and I went to her classroom and asked her to come with us for her first neurofeedback session. Seeing her mother, the girl agreed to come with us.  I kneeled down in front of her, and gave her my hand; she took it and told me her name. I heard her mother whisper, “wow!”.Hooking her up with the neurofeedback machine with the NeurOptimal sensors for the first time was challenging – she was afraid to be touched on the earlobes.  I allowed her to attach the sensors herself after demonstrating on her pet cat.During the brain training session, she watched part of a movie  –  a story about a Dolphin. The session went well and when it was over, she smiled, looked at her mother and said: “NICE!”The family went home for the weekend the came back the next Friday.

Same girl, same school, same movie, Part II.

Her mother couldn’t stop talking about the changes they’d witnessed in their daughter the week before. The Saturday morning after the first neurofeedback session, she and her husband were awakened early by the sound of a child whistling in their garden. They went outside to find their daughter dancing in their sun-covered-garden, whistling tunes. When the girl saw her parents, she threw them a smile and said: “Look, there is the sun, and now I can hear the birds. The dance has been stuck in my head but now it is free”.The mother looked at her husband when he asked: “Could this be possible? After one neurofeedback session?” She said: “Yes, it must be! Nothing else has changed.”When the mother told me this story, I said, “Yes, we see miracles all the time. Your daughter is experiencing one of them”.About the Trainer:hannieNeurOptimal Trainer Hannie Ruinen first tried NeurOptimal neurofeedback on herself 12 years ago to mitigate severe postpartum depression. The experience was so transformative that she integrated NeurOptimal into her life coaching practice. Today, her neurofeedback training clients include special needs children, professional ballet dancers as well as members of the Netherlands Royal Concert Orchestra. She lives in Roermond, Netherlands with her husband and three children.
